To Unsettle the Horizon

2019

30:53 minute performance
as performed at Headlands Center for the Arts

performance in collaboration with Beatriz Escobar, Judit Navratil, Patricia Leal, Clara Merçon and Rachel Austin

This performance is an invitation to critically contemplate the horizon, by departing from its association with the modern ideals of linearity-determinacy-predictability and imagining ways to reclaim it.

Notes on sound:Four 120 foot tubes carry the sound of the live performed sound composition from the vocalists atop a hill to the audience sitting 100+ feet away. Bridging the space between the audience and performers, the tubes carry and distort the sounds that are heard as they snake through and interact with the landscape. This effect on the transportation of sound through distance and landscape is experienced by the audience both visually and aurally.
