Imaging expansive futures beyond linear time and the constraints of geopolitics, crude oil, and water, this iteration of Past and Future Forms is initiated by interdisciplinary-sound artist Sholeh Asgary with artist-scholar Dena Al-Adeeb, visual-performance artist Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, and performance-sound artist Leyya Mona Tawil.
Reflecting the non-static nature of the body within the context of self-defined notions of time as shaped by the geography of foreign policy, crude oil, and water, Past and Future Forms uses the "Epic of Gilgamesh" as a departure point in a series of performances that excavate the elusive body across time and space.
Past and Future Forms was supported by Soundwave NEXT and presented at Gray Area Foundation for the Arts in November 2020.
