The Epic of Gilgamesh serves as a departure point to excavate decolonial imaginaries and the relationship between racialized necropolitical destruction, war-climate continuum, and bodies in protest across time and space. Through experimentalism and a feminist refugee-centered transnational approach, Dena Al-Adeeb and Sholeh Asgary blend vocal traditions, poetry, performance, moving image and sound — weaving realms through ancestral futurism. This work in the ongoing series draws from Al-Adeeb's personal experiences, surviving the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, the Gulf Wars, and the U.S. invasion of Iraq, and unfolds as a series of poetic meditations on lived and enduring cycles of forever wars.
